Images of Peace was launched in São Paulo in September 2002, fruit of the aspiration of a group of photographers to disseminate a positive view of the human being and its society, and to contribute to the establishment of a culture of peace in the world.

Images of Peace was strongly inspired by “Images and Voices of Hope” (IVOFHOPE), launched in New York in 1999 as a global project that promoted dialogues to inspire the creation and distribution of stories that would assert a more dignified society.

Both IVOFHOPE and Images of Peace are supported by Brahma Kumaris, an international not-for-profit organization that has consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Counsel, which deals with the education of the human values.
